Silent Hill f Shimizu Residence Complete Walkthrough
1. Make Your Way Down the Mountain
After waking in front of Shu's house and enduring a disturbing encounter with Junko, begin your descent eastward back toward Ebisugaoka town. The path is filled with danger, as more grotesque variants of the Birthing Monster, Kashimashi, Vomiting Monster, and the Glowing Monster will block your path.
Fight or go through these relentless enemies as you make your way down the mountain until you finally reach the town.
New Game+ Tip: Get Dad's Old Kitchen Knife
Dad's Old Kitchen Knife is found on a tree beside one of the shacks near Shu's house. Get it and offer to the fifth Jizo Statue to complete the Sacred Sword Puzzle.
2. Go Through Town
Cut through the town's residential district and make your way into the park. Here, a brief vision of Hinako's past plays out, showing the moment she first met an older boy named Kotoyuki. Once the memory fades, press onward, only to find yourself facing the same horde of monsters that ambushed you along the mountain path.
Push through them and continue north until you finally return to the Shimizu residence. Explore the house's interior for a while and familiarize yourself with its many rooms, as you'll need to do a lot of back and forth within the area.
Point of No Return for Unlockables
Note that while you are still outside the house, you can still commit to other activities you might have forgotten, especially in New Game+. If you think you might have missed something, you can backtrack a little first before entering.
3. Access Shimizu Residence II
Calendar Location
Pick up the calendar marked with the number 6 from the far eastern side of Shimizu Residence I, in front of the red sliding door.
Door Location
Hang it on the wall beside the northern sliding door at the opposite end of the hallway to unlock access to Shimizu Residence II.
4. Pick Up Hinako's Portrait
After going through the doors in Shimizu Residence II, head straight, then turn on the only hallway leading to your right to find the painting room. There, you'll find a Picture Frame bearing a portrait of Hinako. Pick this item up, as it is a puzzle piece for the Ominous Photo Puzzle in Shimizu Residence I.
5. Access Shimizu Residence III
Calendar Location
Walk to the lower western side of Shimizu Residence II, and enter through the sliding door at the end of the hallway. You will be greeted with a brief interactive cutscene of Hinako's family life. Pick up the Calendar with the number 26 on the table, and exit the room.
Door Location
Head to the upper eastern part of Shimizu Residence II, and place the calendar on the wall to the right of the sliding door to unlock it, then walk through.
6. Obtain the Fletching Key
The Fletching Key is required to unlock the wooden sliding door marked with a bird in Shimizu Residence III, granting access to the room containing the third Crest. To do this, you must first collect a Propane Tube and Block of Wax within Shimizu Residence III, and return to Shimizu Residence I to melt the wax and reveal the key.
How to Get the Fletching Key
Step 1: Find the Propane Tube
Loop around the hallway from Shimizu Residence III's entrance, all the way to the western side of the map. There, you'll find a kitchen right in front of the fletching door, where a Propane Tube can be found.
Step 2: Locate the Block of Wax
Walk toward the northeastern part of the area, and enter Hinako's childhood room. You'll find a Block of Wax hidden inside a diary, in a bookshelf at the rightmost corner of the room.
Step 3: Melt the Wax
Return to the kitchen in Shimizu Residence I and connect the stove to the gas tank via the Propane Tube. Then, place the Block of Wax on the stove to melt it and reveal the Fletching Key. This will be used later on to obtain the third crest.
7. Get the First Crest (Solve the Ominous Photo Puzzle)
Return to the Photo Room in Shimizu Residence I and place Hinako's photo in the empty wall slot. Depending on your ending conditions, arrange all photos either upright or upside down in the correct positions. Solving the puzzle will cause a frame to fall, revealing the White Bird and Fox Crest.
8. Get the Second Crest (Solve the Scales Puzzle)
Next, head back into Shimizu Residence II and walk to the northwestern side of the area to find a room with the Scales Puzzle at its center. The solution to this puzzle, much like the Ominous Photo, will vary depending on your achieved ending conditions. Afterwards, its lower compartment will open, rewarding you with the Scales Crest.
9. Get the Third Crest
Enter back into Shimizu Residence III, loop around to the wooden door at the western side of the area, and use the Fletching Key to unlock it. Inside, you'll be greeted with a cutscene depicting Hinako's turbulent home life once more, and allow you to pick up the Black Bird and Sword Crest.
10. Solve the My Room Puzzle
Back in Shimizu Residence I, place all collected crests in the My Room puzzle slots. Use the scroll on the right for clues, as the solution for this puzzle also changes based on your ending conditions. Solving it unlocks the room where you can collect the Pine Tree Emblem from her study desk, then watch a cutscene afterwards.
11. Open the Door to the Room With Shu's Voice
Place the Emblem on the red sliding door at the southeast end of Shimizu Residence I to open a long hallway. Use this chance to save your progress at a Hokora Shrine and restock on healing items before heading through the final doors, which leads to a boss fight against Hinako's parents.
12. Defeat Your Parents
The boss fight against Hinako's parents has you facing her father, a slow but powerful Ara-Abare-like creature, and her mother, who attacks faster with both melee and ranged strikes. Focus on defeating the father first, as doing so ends the fight immediately. Keep distance, dodge carefully, and strike during his recovery windows.
Completing the fight against Hinako's parents will reveal a cutscene where Hinako's parents are killed by an unknown creature, and transports her back to the Dark Shrine after such a terrifying sight.
