Silent Hill f: My Room Puzzle Complete Guide
Unlock Hinako's bedroom with our comprehensive puzzle solutions for all ending routes
Understanding the My Room Puzzle in Silent Hill f
When you finally return home in Silent Hill f, your next challenge will be bypassing the strange lock that's appeared on the door to Hinako's bedroom. This guide covers everything you need to solve the My Room puzzle across all difficulty levels and ending routes.
When you enter the Shimizu Residence late in the game, you'll initially have the run of Hinako's newly expanded house. However, there's a puzzle lock barring your entry to Hinako's bedroom, and trying to figure out how to open it will be the focus of this stage of the game.
Important Note:
My Room is the first of SHf's core puzzles that's affected by the ending path you're on. This has a mild influence on how you'll get through the Residence, and a significant impact on the actual solution to the puzzle.
How to Collect All Three Plates for the My Room Puzzle
Before you can start the My Room puzzle, you'll need to collect 3 special plates that are found throughout the Residence's 3 separate maps.
Scales Plate
Solve the Scales puzzle in Shimizu Residence II to obtain this plate.
White Bird and Fox Plate
Solve the Ominous Photo puzzle in Shimizu Residence I to obtain this plate.
Black Bird and Sword Plate
Examine the bloodstained bookcase in Hinako's room in Shimizu Residence III and pull out the book on its lowest shelf to get the Block of Wax. Next, go to the kitchen in Residence III and retrieve the Propane Tube. You can now return to Residence I's kitchen and melt the Block of Wax in the stove pan to get the Fletching Key. This opens a door in Residence III - usually to the dining room, but it can change in NG+ depending on your ending route - where you'll find the Plate.
Once you have all three Plates, return to Hinako's bedroom in Shimizu Residence I. Hinako will automatically install the Plates into the lock alongside a 4th Plate that's already there. For ease of reference, we'll call that the Heavens Plate.
As you might notice from the description of the plates, they're reversible. However, both the Scales and Heavens Plates have no icon on their opposite side. They're simply blank.
To open the door, you must place the Plates in the lock in a particular arrangement, a hint to which is found on the scroll to the wall to the right.
My Room Puzzle Solutions for All Difficulty Levels

We're still testing the solutions to this puzzle, as they appear to differ dramatically based upon your current ending route and your chosen puzzle difficulty. As such, this page is under construction while we test every possible combination.
Successfully completing this puzzle gets you access to Hinako's room, which features a unique flashback/cutscene depending on what ending you're on. You'll also be able to claim the Pine Tree Emblem, which opens the locked door to the southeast.
Story Mode Solutions
Ending #1 Solution
"The Sword and the Fox fought, battling upon a set of scales. The heavens themselves shuddered at the ferocity of their struggle. Day after day, the sun rose behind the Fox's back and set behind the Sword's; yet their fight knew no end. The scales upon which they fought, however, were no more, having been destroyed long ago."
The Fox must be in the east if its back is to the sunrise, which means the Sword is standing to the west. The Scales have been destroyed, but the Heavens are intact.
Answer: Leave the Heavens on the top. Put the Fox on the right and the Sword on the left. Finally, flip the Scales Plate to its blank side and leave it on the bottom.
Ending #3 Solution
"The Sword and the Fox fought, battling upon a set of scales. After a long and vicious fight, the Fox fell to the Sword. In the aftermath, their seal upon the land vanished without a trace. The Sword raises itself heavenward, the scales now dedicated to the rising sun. Now go, White Bird. Fly away and never come back! The White Bird took to the air and flew towards the horizon, becoming a silhouette against the setting sun. Now, nothing remained upon the land."
The Scales are "dedicated to the rising sun," which once again means they're on the east; likewise, the Sword has raised itself up. That leaves two spots for the White Bird and the reversed Heavens Scale.
Answer: The White Bird goes on the left spot, flying away, while the Sword's on top and the Scales are on the right. For the nothing that remains, flip the Heavens Scale and place it on the bottom.
Ending #4 Solution
"White and Black fought, battling upon a set of scales. Yet neither wanted for the scales, for what they desired was simply a quiet, gray place where they could belong together. 'Whether we flee or spread our wings and fly is our decision alone--one to make only once we are ready.' They had no use for those who towered from the heavens, imposing their will on others."
Unlike most of the other solutions, the Sword, Fox, and even the Scales are irrelevant; this one's for the birds. Notably, the birds are still on the ground; they may fly at some point, but have not done so yet. All they want for now is some place quiet.
Answer: As per the first line, the White Bird's on the left and the Black Bird's on the right. As their desires are what matter here, flip the Scales and place the blank Plate on top, while the Heavens, which the Birds don't need, are on the bottom.

Ending #2 Solution
"The Sword and the Fox fought, battling upon a set of scales. After a long and vicious fight, the Sword was defeated, and the Fox reigned supreme. Taking the Black Bird's right hand, the Fox showed her the scales in his other hand. 'Now, you must choose, Black Bird. Have you made a decision?' Upon one side of the scales was the Fox, and on the other, nothing."
This is deliberately confusing, but the last 2 lines are the most important. We know the Black Bird, Fox, and Scales are the only images that matter here, and since the Heavens aren't mentioned at all, we can flip that plate immediately. It's also important that the Fox is holding the Scales in his left hand.
Answer: Place the Scales on the left, with the Fox plate on top and the blank side of the Heavens plate on the bottom. The Black Bird, trying to decide, is on the right.
